DULCE MARIA SIGNS WITH UNIVERSAL MUSIC LATIN ENTERTAINMENT
Dulce María signed with
Universal Music Latin Entertainment at the Multinational Music Label’s
offices in Mexico City
on Monday June 15th.

Accomplished singer, songwriter,
actress and author,
Dulce María Espinoza Saviñón was
born in Mexico City
on December 6th 1985. Her meteoric rise to stardom with RBD is
substantiated by a career in music and acting that started when she was 6 years
old performing with children’s group Kids.
n 1993 she was
part of the TV cast of Plaza Sesamo (Mexico's version of Sesame Street).
Later she went on to join El Club de Gaby
and worked with Discovery Kids.
In 1997 she released an album as
part of girl group Jeans.
Following lead roles in
teen-oriented soap operas such as El Juego
de la Vida and Clase 406,
Dulce María gained her greatest international exposure in soap opera Rebelde, which spawned the mega pop
sensation RBD.
RBD went on to sell more than 11 million albums during 4 intense years.
They played live in arenas and stadiums across Latin America, Europe and the United States, from Romania
to Brazil.
They have won important International Awards for ‘Best Group’,
‘Best Album’, ‘Best Song’ and Best Concert’ in
events such as The Latin Billboard Awards, ‘Premios Lo Nuestro’ and
‘Premios Juventud’ amongst many others.
In 2007 Dulce María released her
first book, Dulce Amargo, a book
of poems and stories of her experience in RBD and her life.
Following the dissolution of RBD,
Dulce María has continued to develop her music career as a solo artist. The
first sample of this new project is the song El
Verano, the opening theme of the soap opera Verano de Amor, in which she
also acts in a lead role.
She started as a songwriter after
writing the song called “No pares” that became a hit worldwide. She
penned the official theme of the RBD series: La Familia called
“Quiero Poder”.
Several other of her songs have been
included in RBD records, such as “Te daría todo”, featured in
“Empezar desde Cero” and two new songs in their latest record
called “Para olvidarte de mi”.
Her most recent musical collaboartion
was singing “Beautiful” with super star Akon, the track is going to
be included in the deluxe version of his “Freedom” album.
They recorded a video of the track together in Mexico City.
Together with her RBD peers she was
elected to become one of the first Latin women to have her own Barbie doll. Two
unique designs were launched in June 2008.
She has also been the image of high
profile advertising campaigns that enhance her youthful image, such as Garnier
hair color and Cklass footwear.
